The Christchurch Harbour Hotel is a spa hotel in a lovely location. It has a sea view, as do many of the rooms and a real attention to detail that made our stay a great one.

The building is a white-rendered affair with plenty of windows, typical seaside architecture. The inside is a mix of modern and traditional and everything we saw was completely clean and in good condition. The hotel had a multi-million pound refurbishment in 2009, with some work still on-going.

The location is excellent, by the sea. The hotel is built in a U-shape, offering a secluded, grassed courtyard area where you can sit in a sun lounger and relax by the water. It has its own jetty and plenty of places to sit, making it an ideal place to spend a sunny afternoon.

“The Christchurch Harbour Hotel is one of those hotels where it’s just nice to just hang out.”

We had a Gold Superior Room, which was nicely decorated, a good size and provided a lovely venue for a weekend away. The room had a large bed at one end and a seating area at the other. The large windows gave us an outlook over the quay and let in an awful lot of light.

The atmosphere in the room was comfortable and welcoming and immediately set us at ease. The bathroom was a good size, with combined bath and shower, good lighting and was scrupulously clean.

The rest of the hotel echoed this calm and relaxed feeling. The public areas are light, comfortable and well maintained. The spa is perfectly formed, with a luxury pool and treatment rooms.

The hotel also has the Harbour restaurant and The Jetty Restaurant, both serving contemporary menus. Both were popular with the guests and served good food.

The Christchurch Harbour Hotel is one of those hotels where it’s just nice to just hang out, Sit outside, enjoy a cocktail on the terrace, have a treatment or just sit by the sea. It just encourages you to relax and watch the world go by. We would definitely return here.
