The Montpellier Chapter Hotel is a trendy hotel in the heart of the city. Elegant but contemporary, the hotel focuses on providing a stylish but relaxing stay just minutes from Cheltenham’s attractions.

The restaurant is similar to the rest of the hotel in that it is modern but with a simplistic feel. It is designed so that guests can watch the chefs prepare their meals, with an open plan kitchen centred at one end of the room. The restaurant also features an outside area in which guests can enjoy sunshine in style.

We began our visit to the Montpellier Chapter restaurant with two cocktails. The first was a cucumber and elderflower buck. This features fresh and muddled cucumber with elderflower cordial, fresh lime, sugar syrup, Wyborowa vodka and ginger beer. Very refreshing, the cocktail was the perfect mix of fresh ingredients, sugar and the warming flavour of ginger beer. We also sampled a cocktail named Raspirissima, which includes fresh raspberries, fresh lime, sugar and Havana 3 year rum. A strong, short cocktail, it was strong but the fresh and the quality of the local ingredients was very clear.

“The fish was fresh and of a high quality.”

For our starter we decided to sample the soup of the day, which was a fresh tomato and basil soup. The dish was fresh and full of flavour, a very rewarding but simple dish to begin our meal.

Following our starter we ordered two main dishes. The first was pan fried fillet of sea bream served with lemon and coriander cous cous and peas. The fish was fresh and of a high quality, perfectly accompanied by the simple side dishes. We also chose to match this dish with chipped potatoes, which were very impressive and certainly worth a special mention.

Our second main dish was an 8oz fillet steak served with grilled tomato, watercress and chips. The beef was very tender and extremely delicious, and again perfectly accompanied by the selection of simple side dishes. We also chose to order a side of buttered, which was very enjoyable and a wonderful addition to our meal.
