Hotel Mont-Blanc can be found located in the valley of Chamonix at the foot of the epic Mont-Blanc. It really is an incredible location, and the charming 100-year old building is deserving of such a location with its natural charm and allure that looks and feels like something out of a fairytale.
During our stay, we experienced one of their Mont-Blanc Junior Suites. The suite had a beautiful, classic French style to the interior design, with a strong Alpine feel from the wood furnishings and panelling.
The main open-plan living area is complete with a sofa, arm-chairs, and coffee table which is at the foot of the bedroom area we were most pleased to find a wonderfully comfortable bed which takes centre stage.
The suite is also home to a wonderfully luxurious bathroom complete with a separate bath, walk-in drench style shower and steam room, and his and hers wash basins.
The real talking point has to be the balcony, however, the views from our suite were nothing short of stunning, and we could never tire of looking out over the mountainous skyline. Waking up to a morning view of Mont-Blanc is indeed something very special, and a view I shall not forget in a hurry.
"Hotel Mont-Blanc is without question, a fine example of five star luxury."
A stay at Hotel Mont-Blanc would not be complete without a visit to a spa, and the Spa by Clarins is the perfect spa retreat. Aside from the wealth of treatments available, which range from facials to full-body massages, we have to draw your attention to their swimming pool.
Their year-round heated swimming pool allows you to swim outside during the coldest months of the year. In fact, you can start inside from the spa and literally swim your way outside through a small tunnel to avoid the wind chill. Quite the experience, and should you be visiting in the warmer months there are plenty of sun loungers outside for you to relax on.
To complete your spa experience we recommend a visit to their sauna and if you're brave enough then nothing beats an ice-cold bucket shower, another local tradition that really shocks the body into life and is quite the experience. If keeping fit is high on your agenda, then you'll find everything you need in their state-of-the-art gym for a good workout.
Those seeking somewhere to start the evening with a drink will not be disappointed by the Bar Lounge. Here you'll find a beautifully designed bar with various seating areas. We chose to enjoy their library room next to the roaring fire which was simply beautiful and set the tone for the evening ahead.
Although there are plenty of dining options in Chamonix, we cannot speak highly enough of their house restaurant, Le Matafan. Headed up by Chef Mickey Bourdillat at the helm, here you'll find a range of superb dishes, with a lot of traditional and locally inspired creations.
We highly recommend Hotel Mont-Blanc as a luxury escape at the foot of the Alps. The staff are a true credit to the hotel, we were left wanting for nothing and always felt as nothing was too much trouble. Our entire experience from start to finish cannot be faulted, and it's one we would happily repeat.
