Ten Feet Tall is a hip cocktail bar located in the centre of Cardiff, Wales. Those who know Cardiff know that there's no shortage of bars there, but this still remains one of my personal favourites, both for the décor, which is interesting and eclectic - and also their cocktail craft. The team here really do take their time in crafting every cocktail, which seems to be a rare thing these days, so we were more than happy to sit back and relax whilst our cocktails were being created.

For my first cocktail I ordered a Bramble, which sees seasonal fruit liqueur mixed with Beefeater gin and lemon juice. This cocktail is fresh to start with a fruity, sweet finish. My partner chose the Dark n Stormy, which is a combination of Gosling’s Black Seal rum with fresh lime and sugar, topped with ginger beer. This cocktail has a real kick and most delicious.

Up next, I ordered a White Russian, a rich mixture of coffee liqueur, Stolichnaya vodka, milk and cream. This is a rather deceptive cocktail, being rich and creamy initially before the alcohol hits, creating a fiery finish. My partner chose the Espresso Martini, which saw espresso mixed with Stolichnaya Vanilla vodka, shaken with coffee liqueur and sugar. The team here claim that their espresso martini is the “best of its kind in the city”, and we are hesitant to disagree.

For our final choice, I thoroughly enjoyed a Whisky Sour which consists of bourbon shaken hard with a combination of citrus and sugar. It was both refreshing and hard hitting. My partner ended with a Manhattan, Bulleit Rue whisky stirred with Antica Formula, vermouth and bitters. This is the perfect cocktail for whisky lovers and is able to be served sweet or dry.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and if you appreciate a well-made cocktail then you must visit Ten Feet Tall. We will certainly be returning.
