The Tamburlaine Hotel is a relatively new player to the Cambridge hotel scene, the hotel can be found ideally located next to Cambridge train station. This makes visiting the hotel exceptionally easy should you be arriving by train, and being just a short Uber ride from the city centre, it’s location is even more enviable. When we arrived, we were charmed by Tamburlaine’s impressive facade which is particularly enticing. We couldn’t wait to get inside and explore.

Tamburlaine’s decor is wonderfully styled and eclectic in taste throughout. The lobby greets you in all its glory, complete with beautifully patterned tiled floors and a dark contrasting spiral staircase. There are plenty of comfortable seating options in the lobby area and a mixture of natural and mood lighting sets a relaxing ambiance. We were greeted warmly by the reception team and were efficiently checked in, before being shown to our room.

During our stay we experienced one of Tamburlaine’s Dean Suites, which can be found located on the top two floors of the hotel. Our suite certainly wasn’t short of space, and offered a separate lounge area to the main bedroom that comprised of a small desk, a sofa, a plasma television and a coffee machine. This provided the perfect spot in which to relax with a coffee in the morning. The bedroom itself was also large in size, boasting the most comfortable king size bed, which really takes centre stage. The bathroom offers a separate bath as well as a walk-in shower, complete with an abundance of polished marble and chrome fixtures and fittings.

“The Tamburlaine has managed to combine a stylish hotel with a superb selection of facilities, all in a fantastic location with brilliant service.”

What we enjoyed most about our suite, however, was the outdoor space. The wrap-around terrace of our suite provided us with 180 degree views over the surrounding area of the beautiful city that is Cambridge. The terrace also offered a small dining table and chairs, where one can enjoy breakfast should the sun be shining, and there are also a few other seating options and another table where a pre-dinner drink can be enjoyed. We thoroughly enjoyed making the most of our terrace during our stay, and for this reason, we would highly recommend opting for a Dean Suite during your stay at Tamburlaine if possible.

In terms of facilities, The Tamburlaine offers an impressive gym. Whereas most hotels offer a more “bare basics” approach to their fitness offering, The Tamburlaine have gone all out in providing an excellent, large gym with all the latest equipment. We think it’s well worth a visit as it’s rather impressive.

If, however, you’re more into the wining and dining aspect of a hotel stay, we can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed with the restaurant and bar at The Tamburlaine either. Offering lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, the hotel’s restaurant is the perfect setting for all culinary needs, and their bar offers a great selection of wine and cocktails.

We would highly recommend a visit into the city of Cambridge during your stay. This charming place offers a wealth of leisure and cultural delights that we’re certain will make you fall in love with the city as much as we did. The team at The Tamburlaine are always on hand to make recommendations of things to see and do, so we thoroughly recommend making the most of their vast local knowledge. In fact, all of the service we experienced at The Tamburlaine was excellent. The team really have mastered the art of good hospitality.

Overall we were thoroughly impressed with our visit. The Tamburlaine has managed to combine a stylish hotel with a superb selection of facilities, all in a fantastic location with brilliant service. We couldn’t have been more comfortable during our stay, and for this reason it comes highly recommended by us as a great choice of hotel from which to enjoy the city of Cambridge to its fullest.
