The Bournemouth Highcliff Marriot Hotel, as the name suggests, can be found on the beachfront in Bournemouth. This wonderful location makes for a great place from which to admire the wonderful views of the sea, or from which to explore the local area and delights of Bournemouth. Having recently undergone a refurbishment of the public areas of the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the new clean cut minimalist reception area.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and checked in efficiently. We were then shown on our way to our room, a Sea View Superior Room, which could be found located inside the main hotel building. Not to disappoint, the first thing we noticed about our room was the magnificent views over the beach, this really was a highlight for us. Overall, the room itself was not that luxurious. It was spacious enough and well located. The bathroom offered a single wash basin along with a combined bath and shower.

“We were caught in the worst snow for 27 years, and as we were due to depart we found a small army of hotel staff clearing the snow from the car park...”

In terms of facilities, you’ll find enough to keep you busy at the hotel’s leisure club. The club offers a gym, tennis court, a sauna and a heated indoor pool, as well as an outdoor pool that opens up during the summer months. Of course the beach is so close, we would recommend a good beach walk, or even a sunbathe should the weather permit. If you get hungry, you won’t be disappointed as the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriot Hotel is also home to Brasserie Blanc, where you will find a menu full of French and British delights.

The hotel also boasts its own car park, which is most welcomed. And in fact during our visit, we were caught in the worst snow for 27 years, and as we were due to depart we found a small army of hotel staff clearing the snow from the car park and helping other guests clear the snow from their cars. This level of service is commendable and hardly went unnoticed by ourselves.

We would recommend the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriot Hotel for anyone looking for a room with a view if you find yourself in the area, particularly during the summer months. We were impressed with the service, and overall our stay was a memorable one.
