The Forbury Hotel in Reading is a lovely venue overlooking Forbury Park. It’s a lovely location, on the edge of town and within easy access to the M4. An excellent location to spend a weekend.

We had stayed here before, about a year ago, so we were interested to see how it had changed over that time.

This is a 5-star hotel, designed in a contemporary style, typified with rich colours, high end decor and modern, bold furniture. It works well to both create that modern look, but also set you at ease.

The valet took care of our car and luggage while we were ushered through to reception. The smartly uniformed staff are efficient, friendly and had us checked in and on our way to our Junior Suite in no time.

“The Forbury Hotel remains somewhere we would happily return.”

Our Junior Suite was spacious, with big windows along one wall, allowing light to flood in. The large bed dominated one end and was super comfortable. The mattress was firm, the covers soft and warm and the linen of a high quality. We slept very well indeed.

The rest of the room was equally well-appointed, with a seating area with a sofa and chairs, coffee table, large LCD TV, Bang and Olufsen sound system, CD and DVD player, with a media library and all the toys you would need.

The bathroom was equally stylish and well presented. It was also of a good size, well decorated and scrupulously clean. The shower was hot and powerful and the bath was comfortable. The light was of a good quality, as were the products.

It was interesting to revisit The Forbury Hotel, it was also reassuring that the hotel has managed to retain it's level of high standards. The Forbury Hotel remains somewhere we would happily return.
