Located in the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Hotel is the Bourbon Steak Restaurant. They offer a menu with a tantalizing range of fine beef cuts, as well a good range of other dishes to pique the interest. We dined in a large booth in the bar area which had a great atmosphere. We still ordered from the restaurant menu, the service was prompt and with a smile, and we had a wonderful evening.

We ordered cocktails to kick off the evening. I had the ‘Pomegranate Martini’, mixed with Hanger One Mandarin Vodka, Cointreau Fresh Lemon Juice, Pomegranate Shaken, and served with Orange peel. A wonderfully citrus and fruity cocktail. We also ordered the ‘Corpse Reviver No.2’, which is a stronger, but enjoyable cocktail made with Nolet's Gin, Cointreau, Lillet, a dash of Absinthe, some Fresh Lemon juice shaken, and served up with a Lemon Peel.

To begin we ordered their Tuna Tartare, which comes with Ancho Chile, Asian Pear, Mint, and Pine Nut. Some interesting flavours I’m sure you will agree, but they work perfectly together. My partner ordered the Crispy Duck Confit, with a Foie Gras Mousse, Corn puree, and fresh Blueberries. Another interesting dish, and a taste sensation.

“We had a very enjoyable evening.”

Moving on to the main course we ordered an 8 oz Filet Mignon, which more than lived up to their reputation for serving high quality steaks. We also ordered their Snake River New York 14 oz Strip with Garlic Charred Prawns, and sides of Summer Squash, Pecorino Fondue, and breadcrumbs. We were impressed with both the presentation, and the flavours of the dishes.

There is an impressive wine list at Bourbon Steak. We ordered a bottle of Ritual, Casablana, Chile, 2012. A great steak wine, with some spicy notes to bring out the flavours. We had a very enjoyable evening, and look forward to returning again in the future.
