Alto Ristorante is an Italian restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale. We dined on their terrace, which was lit up by a beautiful arrangement of fairy lights. After dining you can take a gondola ride around their private lake while having opera sung to you. An incredible and romantic experience you will struggle to find anywhere else outside of Venice.

We started with an aperitif, two glasses of Louis Roederer, Brut Premier, France, NV. Before moving on to the Antipasti, a dish of Prosciutto di Parma, air dried for 18 months, and it tasted delicious. We also ordered Capicolla, Seasoned Pork Shoulder Ham, Duck Prosciutto, prepared with aromatic, seasoned moullard breast.

Our Primi Piatti course was Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia, which is Squid Ink Spaghetti Pasta tossed in Roasted Garlic Butter Sauce with Shrimp and finished with Fresh Basil and Grated Bottarga, a delicious dish. My partner ordered the Fettuccini Carbonara, prepared with Pepper Cured Pancetta, Caramelized Onions and Egg Yolk Cream Sauce, topped with Truffle Arugula Salad.

    “A fine Italian dining experience.”

We also ordered some Cheese’s; Brigante, a semi-hard, young, sweet Sheep’s milk, a taste to be experienced. Gorgonzola Dolce, Soft, Sweet Creamy Cow’s Milk Blue Cheese. Finally, we sampled Pecorino Tasting, Cacio al Tartufo, Brigante, Casina and Papate. We were impressed with each serving, and couldn’t wait to try each one.

Our Sicondo Piatti dishes were Tonno Alla Griglia, Grilled Ahi Tuna Steak with Sicilian Caponata, Aged Balsamic Reduction and Fresh Herbs. A real rate of Italy, very enjoyable. As well as a Vitello Scaloppini, Pan Seared Scaloppini with Garlic, Mushroom, Tomato and Caper Brown Butter Sauce on a bed of Rosemary Roasted Fingerling Potatoes.

Our wine choice was St. Supery, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, 2010. A light and fruity wine, perfect with pasta dishes. If you want a fine Italian dining experience, Alto will not disappoint you.
