The Seven Sins of Becky Wilkinson

    Home Economist & Chef
    Becky Wilkinson
Growing up on her parents Fish Farm in Kent with regular trips to Kenya to go deep-sea fishing meant that Becky’s love and understanding of how to catch fish and how to cook it started from a very young age. Becky’s passion for educating and filling friends with food meant a career in the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry had to change, and she is now a Leith’s trained chef.

The family restaurant on the Fish Farm saw Becky spending many summer holidays catching fish and slowly learning the ropes of a professional kitchen.  Simple and delicious food with fresh, good quality ingredients is Becky’s mantra.

As a home economist Becky helps some of Britain’s best-loved TV food names bring their dishes to our screens; working with the likes of Mary Berry, Tom Kerridge and The Hairy Bikers.

A private chef, recipe developer and home economist, Becky has a love for solving families’ dining dilemmas. From menu-planning across the week, party-planning or freezer-filling, her knowledge means she is brimming with brilliant ideas and solutions whatever the household budget

Becky has appeared on the Channel 4 program ‘Tried and Tasted – the Ultimate Shopping List’, joining food experts including Michel Roux Jr, Jay Rayner and Giles Coren to blind taste test some of the nation’s favourite dishes, she has also appeared on BBC1’s ‘Eat Well For Less!’ where she educates the nation on how to get more fish into our diet without a hefty price tag.

Becky’s enthusiasm, knowledge and passion combined with her girl next door charm brings a fresh, young approach to proper wholesome cooking.

Wrath - What makes you angry about the hospitality industry?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
Bad service; I spent many years working front, and back of house in my parents’ restaurant – eye contact and a smile goes a long way.

Greed - If all your food fantasies came true what would be on your Plate?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
Firstly, more than one plate – a dining table full of ocean treats. I’d want as many whole cooked fish as humanly possible laid out in front of me, with a fish monger to my right telling me how and where they had been caught and the chef to my left telling me exactly how he’d prepared them.

Sloth - What do you do to unwind?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
Audio books; autobiographies, fiction, non-fiction, I’ll listen to anything – as a dyslexic I’ve always found listening more enjoyable than reading -- makes journeys go quicker too!

Pride - What are you most proud of?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
My parents, they moved over from the Middle East and my Dad started digging holes because he wanted to live near water… 30 years later they’ve created the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen -- it also happens to be their home, business and Fish Farm.

Lust - Is there anything that you are still lusting to achieve?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
A better work life balance. My family have an incredible work ethic, I’ve inherited it, but I need to learn to say no and spend more time with friends and loved ones.

Envy - who are you most envious of?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
My twin. He has a desire to learn, achieve and improve himself whilst being the most laid back and beautiful human I know, he got all the good genes.

Gluttony - have you ever over indulged?
    Becky Wilkinson Seven Sins
Every time I go to a restaurant. If there is more than one thing that I like the sound of on the menu then it should be ordered… it’s a costly habit -- but my belly is always thrilled!
