Having previously visited a couple of W hotels in the past, I was particularly excited to visit the W Hotel in New York. Situated in midtown Manhattan, W New York promises to be super-cool and a luxury retreat from the hustle and bustle of they city. And, in many ways, the hotel didn’t disappoint.

W New York’s location is a key asset. It is just a stone’s throw away from Grand Central Station, allowing for easy transport links. It is also very close to some major tourist attractions, including the Rockefeller Centre, Times Square, Central Park, the Empire State Building, the Museum of Modern Art and Madison Square Garden – to name just a few. New York City is an incredible place, and the W hotel does provide a good base to explore some of the city’s finest attractions.

The hotel also boasts a good-sized spa. The Bliss 49 Spa is located over two floors and provides a peaceful escape from the city. They offer a good treatment menu that you can indulge in from one of their nine treatment rooms. As well as which, the hotel offers a good-sized gym, which is worth making the most of during your stay.

“…the breakfast, which was delicious, and the staff were helpful and friendly.”

Unfortunately, we were somewhat disappointed with our suite. Perhaps our expectations were too high, however if staying in a ‘Fantastic Suite’, surely you could be forgiven for expecting it to be exactly that? Regrettably, our suite was not fantastic. In fact, it was slightly underwhelming.

The suite featured plain, white walls and characterless décor. There was also a freestanding wardrobe that was less than luxury, and the room was unfortunately quite well worn. All in all it was pretty uninspiring. Which is a shame, because with a little thought and attention to detail, I am sure the room could be so much more.

Aside from the room though, our experience was enjoyable. Certainly worth noting was the breakfast, which was delicious, and the staff were helpful and friendly.

W New York is a good location for business travelers and as previously mentioned, for those who wish to explore the city from a central base. However, I think a little work could be done in order to instill a further sense of luxury. That being said, we did still enjoy our stay.
