Blue Ribbon is a trendy sushi restaurant located at The Grove in Los Angeles. It’s a casual style restaurant, but still provides a great evening with a fun atmosphere and enjoyable food. Our table overlooked the open plan kitchen allowing us to watch the culinary artisan’s at work.
To begin we ordered Edamame, a plate of Steamed Soy Beans with Sea Salt. This dish is a staple of any sushi restaurant and it was spot on. We then chose some dishes from the sushi bar.
We sampled their California Maki Special Roll with Kanikama Crabstick. The maki was delicious, well presented and super fresh. We also sampled the Sakana San Shu Roll, with Yellowtail, Tuna and Salmon. Another delicious choice, very enjoyable. We also shared a fine selection of Sashimi, which included; King Crab, Binnaga, Kaibashira, and Madai. Each piece of Sashimi was delicious, but the Madai was my personal favourite.
“Blue Ribbon will not disappoint.”
For our main course we ordered the 9 oz Filet of Beef, which was served with Japanese Sweet Potato and a delicious Black Truffle Sauce. My partner ordered their 12 oz N.Y.Strip, with Asian Broccoli and Miso Pepper Sauce. The N.Y Strip was delicious, and the miso pepper sauce was the perfect compliment.
We couldn’t manage a dessert after being spoilt by several delicious sushi dishes throughout the evening. We enjoyed a bottle of Robert Goyette, Sonoma County, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012 throughout the evening, an intense fruit heavy wine that pairs well with sushi.
If you’re looking for an enjoyable evening with some super sushi, Blue Ribbon will not disappoint.
