Ametsa with Arzak Instruction is situated on Halkin Street in South West London, but you might be forgiven for thinking it's in the heart of Spain. Ametsa with Arzak Instruction is a unique restaurant, offering a menu of mouth-watering dishes from the Basque region of Spain.
The décor in the restaurant itself is outstanding. The main focal point is the ceiling, which is created from 7,000 glass receptacles, filled with spices. It’s an impressive and memorable site.
The staff at Ametsa with Arzak are very friendly and efficient as we were shown to our table upon arrival. After studying the menu for a very long time, we finally made our choice, and waited with anticipation for our starters to arrive.
“The Michelin Star Ametsa with Arzak Instruction received the week we visited is well and truly deserved.”
To start, we went for the king prawns with spider crab and sweetcorn and the lobster with white olive oil. It’s hard to put into words the presentation of the dishes at Ametsa with Arzak Instructions, but in a word, it’s simply breathtaking. The colours and construction of the dishes are expertly designed and definitely bring the wow factor. These are the kind of dishes that make your mouth water simply by looking at them. We were suitably impressed.
After our starters, we couldn’t wait to catch a glimpse of our main courses. We had opted for the lamb with beer and the beef fillet with passion fruit – and we were not disappointed. Again, the colours and presentation were impeccable, to the point where if temptation didn’t get the better of you, you’d be reluctant to eat it lest you spoil it. But not eating these dishes is simply not an option; the freshness of the flavours and the perfect seasoning of the food alongside expert cooking leaves you wishing you could lick the plate clean.
We couldn’t resist dessert, and were equally impressed with our choices of chocolate fondant with Piquillo ice cream and clove custard with toasted milk and pineapple ice cream. The Michelin Star Ametsa with Arzak Instruction received the week we visited is well and truly deserved.
The restaurant also boasts a great wine list. The wine list is based on recommendations of Spanish wines, and is a very novel concept. Because we tend of enjoy a new world white wine, such as a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the wine list suggested we tried the Ariyanas Moscatel Seco from Malaga. It was beautiful and a wine we would definitely try again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ametsa with Arzac Instruction and could sing its praises as a restaurant all day, however, we think this is a restaurant that everyone should experience for themselves; so when you next find yourself in South West London, be sure to book a table.
