We recently had a lovely stay at The Manor House in Castle Combe. Castle Combe is a picturesque little village that can be found in Wiltshire in the Cotswolds, and is well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Matching the natural beauty of the area, The Manor House certainly didn’t disappoint, with some of the most lovely grounds we’ve seen in the Cotswolds.

The Manor House offers a vast selection of rooms and suites that can be found located both in the main manor house, and also independently in the form of quaint rows of cottages, which really are a joy to explore. During our stay we experienced their Golden Leigh Cottage, which is a one story cottage that is the former home of the estates horses, no less. Boasting its own entrance, our room offered a separate lounge area as well as a bedroom and a well-appointed bathroom. The lounge is home to a most comfortable seating area complete with television, and the bedroom features a gorgeous four poster bed. The bathroom comes complete with a bath as well as large walk-in shower, and even features a stain glass window that brings a lot of character to the room.

In terms of facilities, there’s no chance of getting bored at The Manor House. There’s a golf course for those inclined, as well as croquet, fishing and a private tennis court available for guests’ use; or the more light hearted among us may prefer a good game of giant chess on the lawn. Whatever you fancy, The Manor House have you covered. Even if you’re just looking to go on a short stroll to take in the tranquility of the grounds, we think it’s well worth an explore.

“The team of friendly staff make the experience one to remember, and the charm and character of The Manor House really is something to behold.”

If it’s a slower pace you’re after, we can certainly recommend The Potting Shed, which can be found located just a short walk from the main manor through the Italian gardens. Spa treatments can be booked in The Potting Shed during the spring and summer months, or can be arranged in your room during autumn and winter periods.

For those looking for dining options, there are a few choices. For a more relaxed dining option you can walk over to their sister property located in the village of Castle Combe, The Castle Inn; or for those looking to stay on-site, you will find an abundance of drawing rooms and lounges to enjoy both afternoon tea or a pre-dinner cocktail. Those who appreciate the finer things in life may wish to explore The Bybrook, where you can enjoy fine dining along with impeccable service and fine wine.

The Manor House is a superb destination for anyone looking to explore or discover the Cotswolds. The team of friendly staff make the experience one to remember, and the charm and character of the manor house really is something to behold. We will certainly be looking to return and would highly recommend it to anyone for a relaxing break.
