Tom was born into the hospitality industry with his parents Stephen and Penny Ross owning and running the award-winning Bath-based properties, Homewood Park hotel and the Queensberry hotel.
He entered the industry at Hotel du Vin in Winchester, from where he moved to the USA to work at the five-star, Fearrington House Inn in North Carolina. Then came a move to Napa Valley, California, where he progressed to maître d' at the French Laundry restaurant.
Ross returned to the UK in 2004 to re-join Hotel de Vin, initially in Brighton before becoming general manager of the Tunbridge Wells hotel, after which he opened the Cheltenham property in 2007.
In 2010 Ross was appointed operations director for Jeremy Mogford’s hotel business in Oxford, where he was responsible for the running of the Old Bank hotel and the Old Parsonage hotel.
In 2014 he returned to work for Robin Hutson and oversaw the opening of The Pig near Bath. |

Lightbulbs! There is always one out somewhere...
Greed - If all your food fantasies came true what would be on your Plate?
Tasting menu created by Thomas Keller. We went to the Harrods pop up a few years ago and it was sensational.
Sloth - What do you do to unwind?
I try not to get too wound up in the first place.
Pride - What are you most proud of?
The team at the Pig near Bath who have been amazing since we have opened and of course my other family.
Lust - Is there anything that you are still lusting to achieve?
Plenty, both personal and professional. I want to have my own business in the future.
Envy - who are you most envious of?
No one. I admire people who are the best in a particular field. It can be any field but you know how dedicated and knowledgeable they must be.
Gluttony - have you ever over indulged?
Too many times to remember...
