The Seven Sins of Tom Harrow

    Fine Wine Consultant & Commentator
    Tom Harrow
Founder of WineChap, wine director of Honest Grapes and UK Brand Ambassador for Dom Perignon. Online columnist for FT’s How To Spend It and wine writer for OnBoard magazine.

Tom is one of the UK’s most influential fine wine “fixers”, well known as a commentator, consultant and event & vineyard tour host. He is also the international wine list reviewer for Luxury Travel Intelligence and former UK & Ireland judge for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.

Wrath - What makes you angry about the hospitality industry?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
Egregious upselling by sommeliers (thankfully increasingly rare), having menu items read to me mid-anecdote, and over-zealous topping up of wine glasses.

Greed - If all your food fantasies came true what would be on your Plate?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
Ducasse’s poulet de bresse stuffed with Perigord truffles, Foie Gras and Morels, with Michel Roux’ white truffled macaroni and my Swedish mother-in-law’s Janssen’s Temptation (Anchovy gratin) on the side.

Sloth - What do you do to unwind?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
Embark on ambitious weekend cooking projects, read historical fiction, play saxophone, dance when drunk.

Pride - What are you most proud of?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
My wife for putting up with me and my daughters for being impeccably behaved in restaurants.

Lust - Is there anything that you are still lusting to achieve?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
I want to be immortalized by having the ultimate dry Martini named after me and write the unwritten Flashman novels.

Envy - who are you most envious of?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
Happiness is not wanting to be anybody else and I’m a happy guy, although I wouldn’t mind being Johnny Depp or Rod Stewart for a couple of days.

Gluttony - have you ever over indulged?
    Tom Harrow Seven Sins
Yes, infrequently but impressively - most recently dancing until 6.30am in a night club in Porto Cervo, fueled by magnums of Dom Perignon and Stoly Elite.
