Nightlife entrepreneur and mixologist Gerry Calabrese has built up a reputation as one of the modern greats of the London bar and club scene. Experience in top London venues such as Lab, Dust, and Sex in the City, as well as curating large events and promotions across the UK, culminated in the launch of his own East End bar, The Hoxton Pony, in May 2008.
Located in Shoreditch, The Hoxton Pony is widely regarded as one of the hottest venues in London and has seen an impressive list of talent walk through the doors including Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris, Alexa Chung, Agyness Deyn and Alex Zane to name but a few.
2011 saw the launch of Gerry’s own drink brand creation, the hugely successful and very tasty Hoxton Gin. In 2012 Hoxton Gin was named as one of Britain’s ‘CoolBrands’ alongside Virgin Atlantic, ghd, Liberty and Spotify.
In October 2012 Gerry switched his attention from East to West (London) and created Baroque in Mayfair at the Playboy Club London where the ambitious entrepreneur finally brought to fruition his dream of merging the luxury and glamour of a by-gone era with a seriously modern twist. |

| Wrath - What makes you angry about the hospitality industry?
Lack of imagination, especially in design! I’m so tired of everywhere looking the same - the whole exposed brick, chesterfield thing has been done to death since the 90s! I feel like it's a uniform.
Greed - If all your food fantasies came true what would be on your Plate?
Really anything with pasta in it! And definitely my old dear's homemade profiteroles!
Sloth - What do you do to unwind?
I love a good whisky in one of my favourite bars or strolling along the Regent’s Canal with my very lazy bulldog!
Pride - What are you most proud of?
Achieving my ambition of opening my first bar which was six years ago now - it was a very seminal moment in my life... And then of course becoming a dad!
Lust - Is there anything that you are still lusting to achieve?
All sorts! I'm very ambitious but I suppose if I had to settle on one goal it would be to expand my operations abroad and grow a business outside the UK.
Envy - who are you most envious of?
My dog! He has it sussed - what a life! Or if not my dog, anyone that lives close to a beach!
Gluttony - have you ever over indulged?
Every single day! I am a man with a great appetite for life!
