The restaurant at Monaci Delle Terre Nere is a lovely place for a relaxed evening. The dining space is intimate, so if you’re looking for privacy, you may find the close proximity of the other diners a bit disconcerting. However, we think it’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner.
“An intimate meal, complete with excellent food, and wonderful service...”
This Sicilian restaurant is absolutely on point with its authentic menu. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table - reading the menu; we were pleasantly surprised to learn there was a set menu for the evening - antipasti, pasta, main course, and dessert.
The antipasti came in the form of a delicious leek pie. A mix of different leeks, encased in beautiful homemade pastry; this course came paired with a glass of Murgo Rose, Metodo Classico, 2011, Nerello Mascalese.
Up next, we enjoyed a delicious pasta dish, served with aubergine cream. This came paired with a glass of Amuri di Femmina e Amuri di Matri, 2013, Nerello Mascalese.
For the meat dish, we were given the choice of either the filet of beef with pepper sauce and roasted potatoes, or the albacore with sweet and sour onion and green salad. We opted to try one of each - and both were equally beautiful. We enjoyed a glass of Etna Bianco Graci, 2012, Carri Cante with this course.
For dessert, we were served with almond granite, paired with a Valcerasa Etna Rosso Alice Bonaccorsi, 2008, Nerello Mascalese.
We were simply blown away by the food, which was so beautifully traditional. We love Sicilian flavours, and the menu did not disappoint. We would certainly love to return. If you’re looking for an intimate meal, complete with excellent food, and wonderful service, then you should look no further. It comes highly recommended by us.
