You’ll find restaurant Sapori del Lord Byron located inside the Lord Byron hotel, just a short journey from the centre of Rome.
This privately owned hotel is rather inviting. Its impressive façade speaks of great things, and luckily its interiors do not disappoint. Found in the basement of the building, the restaurant offers an authentic and intimate dining space, where personal service is of high priority.
“We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, traditional meal.”
When we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We began our evening with an aperitif – a welcomed glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.
R32;We enjoyed our Champagne whilst making our menu choices. To start, we opted for the tuna with bell peppers and green tomato; as well as the homemade Tonnarelli pasta with prawn and coffee carbonara. The pasta saw some interesting flavour combinations, which married perfectly. We were very impressed.
For our main courses, we chose the rosemary flavoured lamb with saffron scented potato chips and Barolo wine reduction; as well as the sliced filet of beef served with porcini mushrooms, and Savoy cabbage.
With our main courses, we enjoyed a glass of Falanghina DOC, Feufi San Gregorio, Campania; and a glass of Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Col d’Orcia Tuscancy.
We couldn’t pass on dessert - and when in Italy, what other choice is there but gelato? We went for the ice cream selection, which consisted of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. We were not disappointed. The ice cream certainly went down very well, especially paired with a glass of Moscato d’Asti DOP, Saracco, Piedmont - a sweet, sparkling dessert wine.
We had an excellent evening at restaurant Sapori, and we would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, traditional meal. We would certainly return when next in the area, and would like to especially thank the staff that made our experience very special indeed.
