Located in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, Blenheim Palace is definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting this wonderfully historic city. With extensive grounds and a quintessentially British facade, this stunning 18th-century building is about as picturesque as you’ll find in England. It’s home to the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, and is the birthplace of the great Sir Winston Churchill.
The palace’s gardens alone are stunning, you can easily spend hours walking around the 2,000 acres. There are some beautiful features to explore such as The Water Terraces, The Roundel, and The Secret Garden. We recommend grabbing a coffee at the cafe that overlooks the mazed shrubbery in The Italian Garden as we did if you want to enjoy some idyllic views.
“There are few buildings as historic and as impressive as Blenheim Palace.”
Inside Blenheim Palace you are treated to the sprawling corridors, and what seems like endless large stately rooms to explore. In fact, there are 187 rooms in total, ranging from reception halls, private quarters, to living areas. The large pieces of art that adorn the walls are nothing short of impressive. The decor throughout the palace is, as you would expect, very regal in appearance. There are thick woolen rugs, high ceilings, Chesterfield furnishings, polished hand-crafted wood tables, with each and every piece of furniture being as impressive as the last.
There are few buildings as historic and as impressive that have their doors open to the public as Blenheim Palace. This is a chance to experience something special in person and we recommend putting this trip on your to-do list. There are various events being held on the grounds throughout the year, such as country fairs, jousting exhibitions, and International horse-trials, so check the calendar before booking.
