The 1500° restaurant at Eden Roc Hotel, Miami, is an award-winning restaurant located within a historic and impressive building. Overlooking one of the most beautiful areas in Miami, 1500° is a rustic steakhouse focusing on fresh and local steak combined with seasonal and creatively prepared produce.
Upon arriving in the restaurant we were very impressed by the stylish but rustic design, perfectly in keeping with the theme of this exciting steakhouse. While still taking in our surroundings, we chose two starters; shrimp cocktail and roasted baby beet salad. The shrimp cocktail following the traditional shrimp cocktail design but every aspect was noticeably fresh and delicious. The sauce was particularly enjoyable and not too overpowering or sweet.
“The steak was cooked as requested and a wonderful representation of the skill of the 1500° chefs.”
The roasted baby beet salad was slightly less traditional but just as delicious. Served with avocado, goats cheese mousse, arugula and a hazelnut and parsley pesto, this starter was extremely fresh and light, perfect for the start of a heavy steak meal.
For our main dishes, we both chose from the large selection of steaks on offer. The first was a 14oz Florida grass fed Wagyu ribeye steak that lived up to the impressive reputation of this high quality beef. Extremely tender and very enjoyable, the steak was cooked as requested and a wonderful representation of the skill of the 1500° chefs. The Wagyu steak was also accompanied by black garlic truffle butter and an optional fried duck egg, which was extremely fresh and added an extra dimension to the already wonderful flavours.
The second steak we chose was the 16oz 28 days dry aged Kansas City strip steak. With a completely different flavour to the Wagyu beef, the steak was rich and earthy, but just as delicious. Also served as requested, the Kansas City strip steak was absolutely delightful. This steak was accompanied by an in-house herb butter, which was very enjoyable and enhanced the flavours of the aged steak.
We also chose three side dishes to accompany our steaks. The first was a side of creamed spinach, which was simple but very enjoyable. The second, a portion of duck fat steak fries with truffle aioli. The fries were beautifully cooked and unlike any other fries we have experienced before. Finally, we enjoyed a side of baked mac n’ cheese. Another well executed dish the mac n’ cheese was very impressive and made a wonderful side for our steaks.
