Located in Beverly Hills, Chakra is a fine dining restaurant providing interesting interiors, private cabanas, and a menu full of interesting dishes. Although not the typical setting you would expect of a fine dining restaurant, Chakra does not disappoint. Indian cuisine is one of my favourite cuisines, and I’m not easy to please. However, the food is exquisite and our experience was outstanding. This is extraordinarily good food.
To begin we ordered Paneer Pakora, Batter Fried Cottage Cheese, served with Tamarind and Mint Chutney. The flavours in this dish really wake up the palate, the Mint and Tamarind chutney were superb. My partner ordered the Seekh Kebab, prepared with Minced Lamb seasoned in Herbs and Spices, then cooked in a Tandoor Oven. Another dish with perfectly executed flavours.
“We were very impressed with each and every dish.”
For our main courses we ordered Lamb Madras, prepared with South Indian Style Chicken Curry with Coconut, Dry Chillies, and Mustard Seeds. This dish is not for those shy of some spice, it had a kick to it and was nothing short of delightful. We also ordered the Kadai Chicken, a dish with Chicken cooked with Onions, Tomatoes and Bell Peppers. Another delightful dish, we were very impressed with each and every dish. We also added sides of Tadaka Dal, which is Yellow Lentils cooked with Cumin Seeds and Tomato, and of course a side of Pulao Rice which was simple but satisfying.
We ordered a bottle of Uppercut, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa valley, 2013. A good meat wine with soft tones and a very subtle taste of dark fruits. Being a lover of Indian cuisine I was excited to visit Chakra, and upon leaving I was more than impressed. Chakra gets a strong recommendation from us, it’s a must for all lovers of fine Indian cuisine.
