Suka can be located inside The Sanderson in London. Serving up traditional and authentic Malaysian cuisine, this restaurant offers something a bit different.

Although we visited Suka in October, we decided to sit outside. Suka has a great outside space that is under cover and well heated. When we were seated, our friendly waiter introduced us to the menu and was very helpful in describing each dish in detail.

The dishes at Suka are all small portions, so instead of opting for the traditional starter, main course and dessert format, we decided to order a selection of dishes to share.

“If you like spicy food, this restaurant is a great shout.”

The dishes we chose included, sea bass fillet baked in banana leaf served with a garnished papaya salad; ribeye steak satay marinated in lemongrass, galangal and turmeric; king prawn satay marinated in lemongrass and turmeric; Portuguese influenced lamb and coconut curry with baby potatoes; fried tiger prawns with tamarind and soy, and a side of coconut rice.

The food was delicious. Each dish was quite hot, so if you like spicy food, this restaurant is a great shout.

Whilst we were there, we also sampled a few of their delicious cocktails, including:

A ‘Love and rockets’ - Saint Germain elderflower liqueur, Beefeater 24 gin, fresh strawberries and rocket, served with a hint of lime and topped with prosecco

A ‘Vesumo’ - absolute citron, lychee liqueur and ginger and lemongrass cordial with a hint of fresh chilli

A ‘Sanderson Martini’ - Absolute vodka, fresh cucumber, Framboise, brown sugar, apple juice and fresh grapes, served with edible glitter!

A ‘Scarlet Martini’ - Ketel One vodka shaken with fresh strawberries and cucumber, honey water and pomegranate juice

A ‘Pamplemousse’ - Belvedere pink grapefruit vodka shaken with Aperon, fresh lemon juice and fresh ginger finished with a dash of sugar

And finally a ‘Strawberry and basil caipirinha’ - fresh strawberries, basil, fresh lime, white sugar and Cachaca

We would highly recommend Suka for a great evening, complete with fantastic service, delicious food and brilliant cocktails. It’s certainly an experience we intend to repeat.
