Having previously visited Hawksmoor in Knightsbridge, we were keen to compare locations. So we paid a visit to the recently opened Hawksmoor on Air Street, which is just off Regent Street.
After arriving, our coats were taken at the host desk and we were shown upstairs to the restaurant. The restaurant is huge, and was incredibly busy on the evening we visited. This made for a great atmosphere with the bustle of everyone dining and enjoying themselves. The tables were well positioned in a way as to avoid secondary conversations, while still giving plenty of room to feel comfortable.
The menu is much alike their other restaurant, but we were still just as excited to discover the tastes and offerings at Air Street. Service was fast and friendly, Hawksmoor Air Street gets a thumbs up from us.
We started the evening with pre-dinner cocktails. Harry Craddock, who ran the Savoy's American Bar in its 1920's heyday, thought it 'a great necessity of the age' to develop effective Anti-fogmatics. Recommending they be drunk 'before 11am, or whenever steam and energy are needed'. With this is mind, the following cocktails are based on his earnest endeavours.
We also ordered the 'Marmalade Cocktail', a relatively simple blend of Gin, Campari, Lemon Juice & English Marmalade. Yet offering a unique and enjoyable experience. We also ordered a 'Corpse Reviver No.2', mimed with a blend of Gin, Triple Sec, Cocchi, Lemon Juice and a dash of Absinthe. It's a potent cocktail, that comes with a warning (or challenge) from Harry himself, ‘four of these, taken in succession, will un-revive the corpse again’.

Our chosen bottle of wine for the evening was Collazzi, ‘I Bastioni’ Chianti Classico, Sangiovese 2011, Tuscany, Italy. A smooth Medium bodied red with medium tannins. A great choice for a wide range of foods, and a wine everyone at the table can get enjoyment from.
To begin we ordered Brixham crab on toast with mayonnaise, a fresh and tasty seafood dish. And, Hawksmoor smoked salmon, made with lovely, fresh tasting pieces of salmon. Very delicious.
Moving on we ordered the 300g Fillet Steak, cooked to perfection and very juicy. As well as a 400g Rib-eye steak, equally as well cooked and presented. We ordered sides of Beef Dripping Fries, Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese and Evesham Asparagus, all of which were incredibly tasty and complimented our dishes perfectly.
For desserts we opted for a couple of British classics. A serving of Sticky Toffee Pudding, which was as delicious as it was rich. As well as the Apple, Plum and Blackberry Pie with Custard, a superb pie. Desserts were a great end to a great evening. Regardless of the location, the Hawksmoor name is synonymous with an enjoyable evening of dining.
