Palace Sushi Zen is one of the restaurants at Lausanne Palace. As the name suggests, this is a restaurant specialising in Japanese Cuisine. They have Japanese chefs, trained in Japan, and offer a wide range of traditional Japanese dishes.

There is an authentic Eastern feel to the restaurant. From the table dressings, decor, and staff, everything is wonderfully presented. We started the evening by ordering a bottle of wine for our table. Saint-Joseph Cuvee du papy, 2012, a wine with some spicy notes and an intense mix of blackcurrant and berries. A great wine to accompany our meal ahead.

“A must visit for any sushi lover.”

To begin we had the Tuna Tartare, SushIzen-Style with Miso paste and house Japanese BBQ sauce. The dish came out beautifully presented as you expect from Japanese cuisine, and was light and palatable. My partner had the Salmon Sashimi, which was served as six pieces. The salmon couldn't taste any fresher, stunning.

For main courses we ordered a few plates of different sushi options. We had; Daizu Tekka Avocado rice, with Tuna, Avocado, and Soya Leaf, a delicious dish of rice rolls. California Roll Version L.A Crab, with Avocado, Cucumber, Mayo, and Sesame, again simply delicious. Three pieces of Spicy Tuna Roll with a Spicy Tuna Tartare, and Shredded Chilli Pepper. This was a beautiful Tuna dish with a good kick of spice. We also had the Kani Crab Leg, with Seaweed. A simple dish, immaculately presented and tasted superb.

It was a hectic evening when we dined at Palace Sushi Zen due to being so busy. But the service was still excellent, and the food was gorgeous. A must visit for any sushi lover, and a great experience for anyone staying at the hotel.
