The Ribby Hall Village Spa Hotel is a holiday village featuring a mix of self-catering cottages and a spa hotel. We stayed in the hotel.
The location is nice, the complex is spread over 106 acres of green land with a lake in the middle and space all around. There are a range of what looked like pre-fabricated buildings and blocks spread about, which did give us pause, but didn’t seem that bad in reality.
One thing the marketing doesn’t tell you is that Ribby Hall is next to a pig farm. If you enjoy that unique country smell, the odour that comes through the windows is perfect. We weren’t so keen, but it wasn’t a show-stopper.
We had a suite, which is a corner room with a good view out over the other buildings. The décor was clean, fairly new but a bit characterless. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom also a decent size and it had all the facilities we wanted.
“The Ribby Hall Village Spa Hotel is an okay place to stay if you have children.”
Being a holiday park, there are plenty of cars and parking is at a premium. It’s also a place you would only consider if you love the sound of children. Laughter is infectious, but if you don’t have any kids of your own it can become grating after a while.
The facilities on the park include a large gym, a pool, spa, a couple of restaurants, a bar and plenty of activities. You have to pay extra for many of those activities which is a little unusual seeing as you’re in a park.
Water plays a large part at Ribby Hall, with a child’s pool, adult pool, an aqua experience, fishing and boating. There are adult-only options, such as the spa, which gives welcome relief.
The spa is new and well featured. There are treatment rooms, the large gym with aerobics lessons, fitness classes and so on. The spa also has an aqua thermal experience and some golf and tennis facilities.
Overall, the Ribby Hall Village Spa Hotel is a great place to stay if you have children. While couples are welcomed, there doesn’t seem as much directed in our direction as for families.
