Sofitel in Hamburg is situated in a fantastic central location alongside a quiet canal. The impressive exterior of this former Deutsche Post building houses an even more impressive interior, and we were excited by the prospect of our stay.

Beautiful flower arrangements and impressive coloured lighting inject a real sense of style and interest into the hotel’s lobby. We were greeted by friendly staff, who promptly dealt with our luggage before efficiently checking us in and showing us to our room.

As expected from the Sofitel group, this hotel is of a good size. Boasting 241 rooms including 18 suites, we were intrigued to see if, and how, the hotel would be able to maintain luxury throughout.

“This is a hotel that knows luxury.”

We were not disappointed; our room was of an impressive standard. With a gray, white and dark brown colour palette, our room oozed style. Contemporary furnishings of a high quality fill the room; but perhaps the most impressive part of all was the beautiful marble bathroom. This is a hotel that knows luxury.

The Sofitel provides a great base from which to explore Hamburg’s superior shopping offering, as well as to visit Hamburg’s historic monuments. There are also canal tours that you can experience from the hotel’s private dock.

If it’s leisure activities you’re looking for though, you needn’t even venture outside the hotel. As well as an excellent restaurant, the Ticino Restaurant, the hotel also boasts well-equipped gym and luxury spa.

The spa is certainly worth a visit. Complete with heated pool, waterfall, hamman and sauna, as well as beautiful treatment rooms, the spa provides the perfect environment in which to relax during your stay.

Personal training sessions are also available in the fitness center, where the more active of us can also make use of the gym’s state-of-the-art cardio machines and weights.

Leisure activities aside, the Sofitel is also an excellent place to stay if travelling for business. As well as a luxury room and a comfortable bed, the Sofitel can also offer everything you need, with facilities for both conferences and meetings, as well as fast and free Wi-Fi throughout.

If visiting Hamburg, we highly recommend a stay at the Sofitel. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were provided with everything we needed for a great stay - an impressive room, a great night’s sleep and fantastic service. This hotel knows how to impress.
