Part of the renowned Rocco Forte Hotel Collection, The Balmoral in Edinburgh is famous for its impressive location and five-star accommodation. The hotel exterior is as grand as they come, featuring a majestic clock tower and classic architecture that is enough to stop you in your tracks as you make your way towards it.
The location is unbeatable and the hotel sits on Princes Street, one of the most central streets in the city. With many of Edinburgh’s well-know attractions on the doorstep, the hotel is perfect for those wishing to see the city. The hotel is also close to Edinburgh airport, making it easy for guests to travel in and out of the city.
“Balmoral Hotel also provides luxury spa facilities, perfect for a relax after a day in this vibrant city.”
The interior is impressive, featuring a classic theme merged with a hint of contemporary style and elegance. The hotel has a five-start presence from the off, and the doormen were the first aspect of the hotel to reflect this, with both of them wearing traditional kilts as they helped us inside.
We stayed in a deluxe room, which was a good size and offered beautiful views around the city. Unfortunately, our views were fairly restrictive. We were also very aware that the ceiling was lower than those downstairs, but both of these features are unavoidable in such an old building.
Our room was of the typical Rocco Forte design, something we have come to expect of the group having stayed in many of their hotels. Never disappointing, the signature décor was contemporary but was based on a traditional theme, which is in keeping with this historical building.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly. We were also pleased to find that the hotel includes two impressive restaurants and two great bars. The Balmoral also provides luxury spa facilities, perfect for a relax after a day in this vibrant city.
