From the moment we arrived at the Nimb Hotel in Copenhagen, we knew we were in for a truly special experience. Nestled right in the heart of the city, with a fairytale facade and direct views over the iconic Tivoli Gardens, the Nimb feels like stepping into another world — one where elegance, tranquillity, and attentive hospitality define every moment.
We stayed in the Terrace Junior Suite, and it’s safe to say that this room set the tone for our entire stay. As we walked in, we were immediately struck by the warm, welcoming ambiance of the suite. The design tastefully blended modern Scandinavian simplicity with timeless classical touches — think soft oak floors, custom-crafted furnishings, and delicate lighting that shifted with the natural rhythm of the day. Every detail had been carefully thought through, and it felt both luxurious and supremely comfortable.
The highlight of the suite, however, was the private terrace. Opening the glass doors onto our balcony each morning was a moment we genuinely looked forward to — the view over Tivoli Gardens was nothing short of enchanting. Whether it was the soft golden light at sunrise, the energy of the amusement park during the day, or the twinkling lights and distant sounds of laughter in the evening, the terrace offered a front-row seat to one of Copenhagen’s most iconic sights. It felt like having our own secret perch above the city.
The bed, dressed in crisp white linens, was incredibly comfortable, and the spacious bathroom felt like our own private spa — complete with a freestanding bathtub, rainforest shower, and luxurious Nimb-branded amenities. I especially appreciated the underfloor heating, a small but wonderful touch that made early mornings feel indulgent.
When we weren’t luxuriating in the suite, we found ourselves drawn to the rooftop terrace — undoubtedly one of the crown jewels of the hotel. The rooftop pool is a showstopper in itself. Heated and infinity-edged, it offers sweeping views over Copenhagen’s rooftops and Tivoli Gardens. It’s an oasis in the middle of the city. Whether we were lounging poolside with a cocktail or enjoying a quiet morning swim, the space never felt crowded or pretentious. It was effortlessly chic and completely relaxing.
Equally, impressive was the Nimb Wellness spa. Although the hotel is situated right in the centre of Copenhagen, the spa transported us to a world of calm and serenity. We took full advantage of the sauna, steam room, and tranquil relaxation areas. I treated myself to a massage, and it was genuinely one of the best I’ve had in recent years — attentive without being too firm, and perfectly paced. The spa’s focus on balance and holistic wellbeing really shines through, and it’s a space I would recommend even to Copenhagen locals looking for a restorative retreat.
One of the joys of staying at the Nimb is just how perfectly located it is. You’re quite literally next to the entrance of Tivoli Gardens, and only a few minutes' walk from the city’s main train station, shopping streets, and cultural landmarks. We found it incredibly easy to explore Copenhagen on foot — from Nyhavn’s picturesque harbour to the cobbled streets of the Latin Quarter. No taxis or public transport required. The central location gave us so much flexibility to dip in and out of the hotel throughout the day, whether to freshen up or relax before heading out again.
Even though the hotel feels intimate — more boutique than grand — it never lacked for energy or variety. The Nimb Brasserie offered the perfect setting for evening drinks or a casual bite to eat, with stylish interiors and friendly, attentive service. We won’t go into too much detail here, as we’ll be covering that experience in a separate review — but suffice it to say that the ambiance, food, and cocktails left us wanting to return again the next night (and we did!).
Beyond the obvious luxuries, it’s the staff at Nimb who truly elevate the experience. Every interaction we had was warm, personal, and genuine. From the front desk team who greeted us by name and offered great tips for exploring the city, to the housekeeping staff who noticed our preferences without ever needing to be asked — the service was intuitive and polished without being overly formal. It struck a perfect balance between five-star professionalism and authentic Danish hospitality.
There’s also something quite special about how the Nimb integrates history and heritage with modern luxury. The building itself, with its Moorish architecture and whimsical turreted exterior, is over a century old and steeped in Copenhagen’s cultural story. Yet inside, it feels current, fresh, and thoughtfully curated. This contrast — between the historical and the contemporary — is what makes staying at the Nimb feel so unique. It doesn’t just offer a beautiful room; it gives you an experience you can’t replicate anywhere else.
It’s worth mentioning the little touches that made our stay feel all the more luxurious: the welcome bottle of wine waiting in our suite, the handwritten note from the manager, the nightly turndown service with chocolates and mood lighting, and even the perfectly brewed coffee each morning from the in-room espresso machine.
We left the Nimb with a sense of deep contentment — that rare feeling you get when a hotel stay exceeds your expectations not just because of the place, but because of how it made you feel. Refreshed, relaxed, and completely at home.
If you’re planning a trip to Copenhagen, whether for a romantic getaway, a cultural weekend, or simply to treat yourself, I can’t recommend the Nimb Hotel highly enough. The Terrace Junior Suite in particular offers a unique connection to the city and Tivoli Gardens that you simply won’t get anywhere else. Add to that the rooftop pool, spa, and unbeatable location, and you have one of Scandinavia’s most exceptional boutique hotels.
We’ll absolutely be returning — and next time, we’ll be booking for longer.
