Bellevue Restaurant can be found inside Bellevue Hotel & Spa which is nestled in the beautiful mountainous region of Cogne, Italy.
The restaurant itself is small and intimate, with wonderfully presented tables, large windows allowing plenty of natural light in and unrestricted reviews out across the glaciers and mountainous skyline.
To begin our experience, we were served two fine glasses of local Prosecco as an aperitif, and a fine one at that which whet our appetites sufficiently to match our anticipation for our first course.
For our first course, I decided on the risotto which was complete with Morgex saffron, spring onion, and roasted veal tail. The risotto had a rich, creamy texture, and the veal tail had been perfectly seasoned and seared. My partner chose the Spaghetti “alla chitarra” from Abruzzo, with squid, cherry tomato, and Controne bean. A dish we’re familiar with and happy to say was expertly executed.
“The attention to detail throughout the evening was most impressive and didn’t go unnoticed on our part.”
For our main courses, I choose the beef filet cooked in rock salt and Cogne hay crust, with a Torrette Superieur wine sauce. The fillet was tender, lean, and packed with flavour. The crust had a lovely crisp texture. My partner opted for the roasted loin of lamb with hyssop, potato silvers, and “Pecorino” snow. Another dish showcasing deliciously tender and flavoursome meat, along with the perfect accompaniments to round off a superb dish.
For dessert, we decided to share a selection of sorbets which included lemon, passion fruit, and vanilla, each beautifully presented and each mouthful as rewarding as the last. We finished off with a pot of fresh mint tea, a perfect end to a wonderful evening of fine dining.
To accompany our meal, we chose a bottle of 2013, Tenuta San Guido Le Difese Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy. A dark red wine with an aroma of blueberry and blackberry, and an intense but delicate delivery, the perfect choice to accompany our menu selection.
The staff at the Bellevue Restaurant really do understand the art of hospitality. We were made to feel welcome and were able to enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding glaciers whilst being looked after.
The attention to detail throughout the evening was really most impressive and didn’t go unnoticed on our part. We recommend making it a priority to visit the Bellevue Restaurant and are already looking forward to returning.
