Located in the bustling Cotswolds village of Bibury, The Swan Hotel is unmissable when driving through the village. The Cotswolds is home to some of the most beautiful and picturesque sweeping countrysides, cobbled streets, and timeless 17th-century buildings, and Bibury is a special little village nestled in the Cotswolds.
The village has a quintessentially British look and feel, and there is a storybook-like charm with the River Coln flowing underneath twee bridges and meandering into the distance. Bibury is quite the tourist hotspot and you’ll see coach loads of tourists descending on the village in the peak months. While this does somewhat hinder the natural beauty of the village it’s understandable why so many people want to visit.
The Swan Hotel does a great job of providing a sanctuary as soon as you arrive. The Cotswold stone facade and luscious green trees in the backdrop set the scene for that storybook experience, and the moment you step through the doors you’re engulfed by the hotel’s character.
“The jewel in the crown of the quaint and charming village of Bibury.”
We experienced the ‘Four Poster Dragonfly’ room. The room was a true delight and quintessentially British in every way, perfectly capturing the essence of the surrounding area. The room had an array of lush fabrics and Regal British blues, Persian rug’s, and of course the focal point of the room was the magnificent four poster bed.
There was a small coffee table and two arm chairs at the foot of the bed which perfectly offset the ornate four poster bed and provided a place to collect your thoughts. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and came complete with twin basins, a stand alone shower, with the centerpiece being a large jacuzzi, a reminder that you have all the modern luxuries you could want while enjoying the charm and character of the 17th-century building. All the fixtures and fittings have a vintage quality, which is in-keeping with the decor and stood out perfectly against the black marble.
The Swan Hotel also has a charming restaurant, lounge areas to relax and socialise, a bar, and a courtyard that’s open to alfresco dining weather permitting. The Swan Hotel is the jewel in the crown of the quaint and charming village of Bibury, it’s simply a must visit.
