The Allergy-Free Family Cookbook by Ellie Lux and Fiona Heggie

    15 August, 2017
Food allergy is reaching record levels affecting an average of two children in every classroom*. And yet surprisingly there are no virtually cookbooks that address the needs of families with children with food allergy.

The Allergy-Free Family Cookbook contains 100 recipes that are all free from dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soya, gluten, sesame and shellfish. They are not only perfect for those diagnosed with single or multiple food allergies, they are also ideal for people with intolerances, coeliacs, as well as those wanting to avoid allergens for other reasons.

Recipes include shepherd’s pie, Thai curries, risottos and casseroles as well as cakes and desserts. They can all be made with ordinary, everyday ingredients; they just happen to be free from eight major allergens meaning everyone at the table can enjoy the same meal.

With kids back at school and busy schedules, parents needn’t struggle with ideas for quick, easy and nutritious meals whether they’re preparing them for their own families or for their children's classmates.

But this is more than just a cookbook, it is packed full of tips and advice from two mothers with allergic children who understand the everyday challenges posed by food allergy. It is endorsed by two leading medical experts as well charity Allergy UK, which says: "Fabulous recipes, sound advice - the essential food allergy cookbook."

Fiona Heggie and Ellie Lux both have children with multiple food allergies and are veterans at dealing with the day-to-day practical aspects of managing food allergy Endorsed by one of the country's leading paediatric experts specialising in Allergy and Immunology at Imperial NHS Trust, Dr Helen Cox, and top dietitian Rosan Meyer.

As mothers of children with multiple allergies, authors Fiona Heggie and Ellie Lux have years of expertise catering for restricted diets. As well as providing easy-to- make recipes, they also offer tips on day-to-day practical aspects of managing food allergies from eating out, checking labels, to going to birthday parties and starting school.
