How can you find the perfect hotel for your stay

When you are looking a hotel for a luxury weekend break or holiday, then you want to make sure that you are getting exactly what you are looking and paying for. With so many different hotels to choose from, all offering the same thing, trying to make a decision which you will be happy with can be daunting.

A good place to determine if the hotel you have in mind is a good option is through outstanding luxury hotel reviews. You can read other guests experiences, rather than just what the hotel choose to describe. However, with luxury hotels, how can you be sure that you really are getting what you are paying for? Some guests may have had different experiences or visiting circumstances, so how can you really determine what a hotel is like? Here are some tips for what you should look for when looking for a luxury hotel stay and how you can find the perfect one for your trip.

    Hotel rating score

You’d think the higher the hotel rating, the better, right? Take a look at the rating score and filter the options so that you see the highest rated ones at the top of the page. Use a rating of 5 stars as a reference, as a higher rated score usually means that previous guests have generally liked the hotel and enjoyed their stay. If you limit your search to these options, then chances are that you are going to have a better stay, too.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that a hotel with a small number of reviews is a negative thing, but a high score tends to carry more weight. You also need to consider that some hotels pay for fake reviews for themselves or their competitors, which can have either a hugely positive or negative impact upon the ratings when searching.

Look at what people are saying

Read a fair amount of both good and bad reviews for hotels in the area where you want to stay and see what the review comments on. There may be some things which bother you, for example, if you are easily bothered by noise then a hotel with a complaint of the street noise probably isn’t right for you.

    Manage your expectations

When looking for a luxury hotel, you’re likely to have certain expectations for the nature of your stay. Some people have extremely high ones, which are not always met, but this doesn’t mean that the hotel is at fault. Factor in the location where you are staying and adjust these expectations accordingly.

If you’re looking at hotels in a less-developed country, then you wouldn’t expect the same level of sophistication as you would in another country. If you’re heading on a European city break, and the hotel is in the heart of the centre, then the rooms are unlikely to be big and spacious as the hotels will be housed within old buildings. What is considered luxury to one person is substandard to another, so your personal opinions come into play for this decision. If you want a hotel that promises a roll-top bath and areas to enjoy walks, then an urban-located hotel is unlikely to please you.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions

You are, after all, likely to be paying a fair amount for a luxury hotel stay, so don’t be afraid to get in touch and ask the reviewer for answers to your questions. Things such as room recommendations are always good things to ask, as well as what the best luxury element about the hotel is or what food you definitely shouldn’t miss out on during your stay. Although these seem like small things, they can make or break your decision on the hotel in question.

If you don’t get the answer you were looking for, it is often worth emailing the hotel directly. If your questions are specifically about the hotel or rooms, then they are the best people to ask and will be able to send you more information.

    Check the value for money

One of the worst things to experience is finding a hotel which is perceived as luxurious online, but upon arrival, you realise that you were vastly overcharged. To check you are getting good value for money, look at what your overall price includes. If you are paying hundreds for just a room, then it is likely that you will experience the full luxury of the hotel.

Check if the overall price includes things such as breakfast and local taxes, as these can often be sprung upon you if not mentioned at the final stage. Look into the checking in and out times, as these can then affect your travel plans. Weigh up the pros and cons of what is included within the whole package of your stay.

    Making your reservation

Once you’ve followed the above steps, you then need to find more information about the best room you can get within your budget, luxury experiences which are included within the price and the best things about that particular hotel. Once you have taken your research and findings into consideration, then you can decide with assurance and confidence. Then all you need to do is pack your bag, get your travel accessories together for the journey and get ready to enjoy your luxury stay!
