    Savage Vines Wine Subscription

    29 November, 2018
    Savage Vines reviews

If you like the odd glass or two but sick of the same old wines on the high street and supermarket shelves then we have a solution. Savage Vines wine subscriptions are as unique as they come, carefully selecting wines from small independent producers from around the world and sending them straight to your door. Each month the wines are sent out with a map showing you exactly where they are from, tasting notes and a wine Podcast talking you through each wine they have selected.

There is a lot to like about a Savage Vines wine subscription. They don’t inundate you with too much wine, with their monthly subscription being for 2 or 3 bottles starting at just £29.95 a month. Of course you can order more if you like from their website as they also operate as a full online wine shop, but the idea is they introduce you to wines you have never tried before through their subscription service. It doesn’t stop there, as a subscriber you also get 25% off across the site if you wanted to order more. With the subscription you can select what types of wine you would like to receive; being all red wines, all white wines or a combination of both. There is no commitment and you also have the option pause it if you are away on holiday or just feel drinking gin for a bit instead!

The founder of the business is a passionate wine lover and wants to promote independent wine makers from around the world. His philosophy is that by purchasing wine directly from family run business he can ensure they are paid a fair price for their wine and the money they make stays in the towns and villages which they are from. This then flows through their communities and helps provide for their families and other small businesses in the region. We caught up with him recently and he was talking about how most of the wine made by independents from around the world never leaves the country in which it is produced. What we are sold on the high street and in supermarkets are mass produced products made by big conglomerates. Any money made as a result of your purchase ends up in the hands of executives who are likely to reside in countries where the product isn’t even made and in some instances sold!

"By supporting them you are supporting independent winemakers and in turn they support you by delivering unique wines at a great price!"

We tried a glass of a sparkling pink cava from Penedes in Spain which he imports, AT Roca - Rosat Reserva. He was telling us that what we were drinking was actually the welcome drink at El Celler De Can Roca in Spain which is in the top 5 restaurants in the world. We could see why. It was crisp, elegant and lusciously lined with faint hints of strawberry and cranberries. The wine maker Agusti Torello makes 20,000 bottles of his Rosat Reserva a year and all of this, except for what Savage Vines import to the UK, is consumed in Spain. They are truly unique wines.

We have been really impressed with Savage Vines approach to promoting small business and brining unique wines into the United Kingdom from all over the world. From tasting notes to food pairing suggestions and even how to get to the vineyard, Savage Vines is an innovative company and looking to bring world wines direct to your door. Wines are securely packaged in a wine style briefcase with a handle so they are easy to carry on your commute if you wanted to get them delivered to work. All in all, we highly recommend Savage Vines and hope to see you on board the Savage wine train too!
