    Naked Wines

    21 September, 2018

We recently discovered Naked Wines, and we’re pleased that we did. Unlike your usual wine company, Naked Wines is a company that really have a grasp on what it is to be responsible and to give back to the industry in which they do business. They use the money they make to support independent winemakers, who in turn deliver beautiful and exclusive wine for Naked Wines, which their customers clearly enjoy.

You can tell just how much their customers enjoy their wines by checking out their reviews. Not only does this show you just how invested their customers are in the company and the winemakers they choose to partner with, but it also gives you a wealth of information before you select your wine. So, you can be safe in the knowledge that you will enjoy your selection.

We decided to put Naked Wines to the test and experience a few bottles for ourselves, which certainly didn’t disappoint. We found the entire process from selection to glass to be an absolute pleasure. The selection process is made all the easier for customers as you’re able to sort the wines by country, region, style, colour, rating or producer; meaning you can really hone in on the wines of personal interest.

"Naked Wines comes highly recommended by us as a great choice for discovering wonderful, interesting independent wines.”

From our selection, we experienced a beautiful Chateau Jas de Bressy Chateauneuf du Pape 2013, which was a personal highlight, being packed full of dark fruit flavour this failed to disappoint. Up next we enjoyed a bottle of Bird on a Wire Syrah 2013, which was quite different, but an equally delicious fruity wine with hints of spice.

We also decided on a bottle of Jonathan Maltus Le Lastau Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2014, which went down all too easily being so silky on the palate. Our next choice was the Ocaso Single Vineyard Blend 2013 that boasted wonderful plum and mulberry flavours.

Our penultimate red wine selection was the Galodoro Reserva 10 Barricas 2016 that was dark ruby red in colour with very smooth finish; with our final red being a Christian Patat Appassimento 2017, that was as dark and intense as they come which we enjoyed very much.

To begin our white wine selection, we chose a bottle of the Villebois Sancerre 2017 that offered lovely gooseberry flavours and that minerality you only get from a Sancerre. We also chose another bottle of Sancerre, the Roblin Sancerre Origine 2016 – which again boasted some wonderfully zesty flavours which we thoroughly enjoyed of a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Our next choice was a bottle of the Richard's The Cutler Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2016, that was another mineral wine with distinct flavours of lemon and grapefruit. And up next was a ROX Scott Peterson Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2016 which was an extremely fruity new world wine, that offered a buttery finish.

We finished our white wine selection with a Villebois Loire Sauvignon Blanc 2017, which was a crisp wine offering flavours of green apples; as well as a Small and Small Sylvia Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2017, that was tropical in flavour and packed full of juicy fruits.

Overall, we were thoroughly impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to order from Naked Wines again. This company comes highly recommended by us as a great choice for discovering wonderful, interesting independent wines at fabulous prices, all delivered directly to your door.
