Having previously visited the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris, it’s fair to say we were more than a little excited to return and rediscover this beautiful hotel. Located just a short walk from the centre of Paris, this hotel is everything a five star hotel should be and so much more. Its location is perfect for exploring the sights of this wonderfully romantic city, and this hotel offers the solace you need to rejuvenate.

When we arrived we were greeted warmly, and effortlessly checked in. We were then shown to our room - a Terrace Suite; which as the name suggests, is a suite that comes complete with a its own private terrace. This, however, is no ordinary terrace. This terrace has one of the most amazing views of one of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Eiffel Tower. The terrace is intimate, and was complete with a small table and chairs allowing us to enjoy our morning coffee whilst taking in the incredible views.

The suite itself is very spacious, and comprises of a large bedroom and en-suite bathroom, as well as a separate living area complete with a very comfortable sofa and armchairs. The suite also boasts two walk-in wardrobes giving you plenty of space to unpack your luggage, as well as another smaller bathroom with a drench style shower. Both the lounge and bedroom have various floor standing lights and lamps which allows you to create the perfect ambience.

“The staff throughout the Shangri-La are incredibly friendly and welcoming.”

The bedroom offers a large king size bed with beautiful bedside lamps. The en-suite bathroom is also large and has his and hers wash basins along with a separate bath and drench style shower. You’ll find the toilet discretely hidden behind a frosted glass door.

As tempting as it is to remain inside enjoying the luxuries, stepping outside of the suite you will find a wealth of facilities within the hotel, including the Chi Spa, which offers a vast selection of treatments for those looking to be pampered. There is also a 16 metre indoor swimming pool in the most beautiful surroundings. This swimming pool is perhaps one of the only swimming pools in Paris with natural light, as most are usually found underground.

After an afternoon relaxing in the spa and swimming up an appetite, it will be time for you to explore your dining options, and thankfully the Shangri-La is certainly not short of choice. With a selection of three restaurants to choose from, as well as a bar, we are sure you will find something that will impress you.

We have dined at both Shang Palace and La Bauhinia and can thoroughly recommend both restaurants, as they really do both offer a superb dining experience. We would also recommend starting your evening with a cocktail in Le Bar, which is situated inside one of the hotel’s drawing rooms. It’s a simply breath-taking setting, especially the cloak room.

The staff throughout the Shangri-La are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. They really are a true credit to this hotel. We wanted for nothing throughout the duration of our stay, and that level of true traditional hospitality is not all that easy to come by these days.

We once again left with very fond memories and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We cannot wait to return and we're quite sure you won’t be disappointed.
