The Little Door restaurant is on the border of Santa Monica and Brentwood. The restaurant has a stylish courtyard, and provides the setting for a romantic evening of dining. The fairy lights adorning the trees outside were a nice touch, while indoors we had rustic chic and low level lighting surroundings to enjoy. The menu is health inspired, but still managed to feel indulgent and was incredibly delicious.
We began with a couple of glasses of Mumm Champagne as an aperitif before ordering our starters. For starters we shared the ‘Little Door Mezze Royale’, which was a selection of Mediterranean appetizers which included Tuna Tartare, Goat Cheese, Merguez Sausage, Grilled Scallops, Hummus and Golden Beetroot. Each piece was well presented and the flavours were delightful.
“We left feeling more than satisfied with our evening.”
For our main course we ordered their Roasted Wild Cod, which came with Manila Clams, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Sweet Red Peppers and Oregano, and a Potato-Celery Root Puree. This dish was nothing short of delicious. My partner ordered Cumin Grilled Filet Mignon, with a Pomegranate and Ginger Demi-Glace, Fingerling Potato Frites, Sugar Snap Peas and Cipollini Onions. Another delicious dish, which we would happily order again.
We decided on a bottle of Chianti Classico, Querciabella, Toscana, 2009 throughout the evening. A smooth and rich wine that complimented our main dishes perfectly. We couldn’t manage any dessert, and left feeling more than satisfied with our evening. We really enjoyed our time at The Little Door and look forward to returning in the future.
