Katana is located on the famous Sunset Boulevard. I’d spotted this restaurant several times over the last year or two, and thought it was about time we visited.
Katana offers dining either inside, or on their terrace overlooking Sunset Boulevard. It was not a hard decision for us, and we naturally decided to dine outside.
“If sociable dining is for you, then be sure to add Katana to your list of places to try.”
We sat down, and chose to begin with a bottle of Merlot, Markham Vineyards, 2011, Napa Valley, which we enjoyed whilst we browsed the menu. We enjoyed the fun atmosphere of the terrace as we lapped in the good weather and the friendly chat from the team.
The menu is extensive, and read like music to our ears. Not willing to settle with just one or two dishes, we ordered a few starters to try.
These included the spicy tuna on crispy rice, the yellowtail sashimi with diced chillies, the miso-marinated black cod, and the jumbo shrimp wrapped with bacon in a chilli garlic sauce. Each dish was beautifully balanced in flavour, and wonderfully presented. We really enjoyed sharing and trying each different dish; so if sociable dining is for you, then be sure to add Katana to your list of places to try.
We ended up sharing a main course, having overindulged so enthusiastically on our starting dishes, and opted for the Japanese premium Wagyu steak. It was delicious, and the perfect finish to our superb meal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Katana, and I am very glad we finally got the opportunity to stop by. The team there are very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We will certainly be returning when we’re next in the area, and seriously urge you to do the same, it’s a great restaurant.
