St. James Hotel and Club is a traditional and grand building located in Park Place in London. The hotel was founded in 1857 as a London base for travelling diplomats. Located close to a number of London’s most popular landmarks, St. James Hotel enjoys close proximity with St. James’ Palace, Buckingham Palace, Fortnum and Mason and St. James’ Park.
Stood majestically in this prime location for hundreds of years, the hotel is the pinnacle of classic sophistication, transporting guests into the world in which it was originally built. The interior of the hotel continues with this classic theme and is laden with traditional touches to continue the classy atmosphere that embraces the hotel.
“Despite the occasional re-decoration, the club has retained its traditional feel and still creates the exclusive atmosphere that has always resonated within the rooms.”
During our visit we enjoyed one of the hotel’s junior suites. The interior design of the room was similar to that around the rest of the hotel and included lavish décor and antique furnishings. The room was not overly spacious but was well-kept and included a separate lounge area.
The silk wallpaper and handcrafted chandeliers created an intense feeling of luxury throughout the suite. The bathroom continued this theme and included a bathtub, walk-in shower, bath-side television and natural stone flooring. The suite also came complete with Penhaligon’s toiletries, just to add that special finishing touch.
The hotel also provides guests with access to the world-renowned St. James Club. Despite the occasional re-decoration, the club has retained its traditional feel and still creates the exclusive atmosphere that has always resonated within the rooms.
Another facility for guests to enjoy includes the William’s Bar and Bistro. Benefiting from the experience and expertise of Chef William Drabble, the sophisticated bar and restaurant is perfect for lunch, dinner or a cocktail before bed.
