Morton’s Club Restaurant and Bar is located on Berkeley Square in London’s Mayfair. Morton’s is a private members club and is set over several floors of a grade II historic building. The building is full of charm and character, with big, elaborate pieces of art on the walls, and a fine dining restaurant on the first floor which offers superb views over Berkeley Square.

During our visit we sampled some divine cocktails in the bar before moving into the restaurant. Unfortunately my partying days are well and truly in the past, so we didn’t make it to the nightclub which can be found in the basement. Service was super attentive throughout and we had a memorable experience.

To begin I sampled their ‘Hermitage Mule’, a cocktail with plenty of punch, mixed with Russian Standard Vodka, Lemongrass, Lime Juice, Homemade Vanilla Syrup, Blueberries, Sake, and Ginger beer. Much detail goes into making this cocktail, and it’s well worth it. My partner sampled the ‘Claire De Lune’, mixed with Bombay Sapphire Gin, Lillet Rosè, Lime Juice, and Elderflower. Another impressive cocktail served in a Martini glass.

“A private members club which still feels private.”

To begin with we ordered two glasses of Billecart-Salmon, Brut Rose' NV, perhaps one of my personal favourites which does indeed make for the perfect aperitif. For our first course I decided on the Hand-Picked Cornish Crab, Sea Beats, and Finger Lime. The Crab was delicious and meticulously presented. My partner ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Tartar, with marinated Celery, Frisee and Apple Vinaigrette, this was highly rewarding.

Moving on to our main course we ordered the Whole Roast Wild Sea Bass for two. The Sea Bass was filleted table-side which was a joy to experience. The dish was served with Amalfi Lemon, Baby Artichokes and Scottish Barra Clam Sauce. The Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and tasted superb. We added sides of Steamed Spinach and Dauphinoise Potatoes which were just as enjoyable, and the whole course was delicious.

For dessert we ordered the tempting Coconut and Passion Fruit Roulade and Mango Sorbet. As well as a Spiced Mandarin Soufflé with Yoghurt Ice Cream, which was a wonderful end to the evening. Our chosen wine for the evening was a bottle of 2011, Château La Gasparde, Côtes de Castillon, Bordeaux, France. A deep red with an earthy and full-bodied flavour.

Morton's Club is certainly a private members club which still feels private, they delivered an exceptional experience from the moment our coats were collected and stored, an experience we would happily repeat.
