During a recent stay at the Conrad in Dublin, we decided to indulge in their afternoon tea offering which is served in Lemuel's Bar and Lounge. We opted for the Champagne Afternoon Tea, which began with a gorgeously refreshing glass of chilled Henriot Brut Champagne.

Our afternoon tea food selection was served on a tiered stand with sweets on the top level, scones in the middle and sandwiches on the lower level. It was beautifully presented and extremely tempting, and we couldn’t wait to get started.

The sandwich selection included fillings of Burren smoked salmon, avocado purée and caper berries on Guinness bread; organic cucumber and sun-dried tomato cream cheese on brown bread; free range egg bound with chive truffle aioli on white bread, and Glen of Aherlow baked ham and Emmental cheese on brown bread. Each one was very delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the truffle aioli within the egg sandwiches, with a second favourite being the smoked salmon.

“We were delighted with the prompt and friendly service as well as the delicious treats and stunning presentation.”

The middle level saw a selection of homemade scones and banana bread, complete with clotted cream, strawberry jam and lemon curd. The scones were expertly baked and really hit the spot – the ultimate tell-tale of a good afternoon tea.

On the upper level, we were treated to a panna cotta trio of Brazilian Tonka beans, raspberry and mango served in tall shot glasses; Sunset Sonata, which is a delicate orange sponge with strawberry mousse and passion fruit crémeux; Chocolate Symphony, which sees milk chocolate ganache on a chocolate fudge base; exotic creamy coconut, lime and mango macaroon, and fine French hazelnut guitar sable.

Alongside our sweet treats, we sipped on our tea selections. I chose the Jing Chamomile tea which was full bodied with a beautiful aroma, and my partner chose a classic English Breakfast tea, which although wasn’t a terribly exciting choice it was wonderfully strong.

Overall we were impressed with our afternoon tea experience at the Conrad in Dublin, and would certainly recommend it for anyone looking for a fine afternoon experience in Dublin. We were delighted with the prompt and friendly service as well as the delicious treats and stunning presentation.
