L’Olivio is a stunning restaurant that can be found located inside Capri Palace on the gorgeous Mediterranean island of Capri. This restaurant is both chic and sophisticated, offering a neutral, relaxing colour palette of white and pastels, contrasting against striking black and white photography that can be found adorning the walls.
We were saying in the hotel at the time, and were very pleased to have made the decision to visit L’Olivio. L’Oilvio offers both outdoor and indoor dining options, however because it was a little chilly during our visit, we decided to dine inside. Although we can imagine the outdoor terrace would be most enjoyable during the summer months.
We had read up a little on the restaurant itself, and were left safe in the knowledge that with Executive Chef Andrea Migliaccio at the helm, we were certainly in for a superb culinary experience; and moreover, I’m pleased to say, an enjoyable evening all round.
Prior to dining we decided to visit their Bar Degli Artisti, where we begun our evening with a couple of well-made cocktails. Visiting this bar is simply a must if you’re staying at Capri Palace. As well as their comprehensive cocktail list, they also stock what must be around 200 different gins.
After been greeted and shown to our table, we decided to begin with two glasses of Pommery Brut Rose Champagne whilst browsing their menu. It took us a while, but we finally decided on our menu choices. I decided to begin with one of their signature dishes; lemon scented homemade tagliolini pasta with burrata cheese, red prawns and sea asparagus. My partner went for their spaghettoni pasta with garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, chili pepper, anchovies and lemon. We were blown away by the freshness of the flavours in these dishes, and the presentation was simply outstanding.

For my main course, I went for their Turbot with “Annurca” apple, crunchy fennels and orange compote. The flavour combination was outstanding, and the textures were perfectly balanced. My partner decided on the suckling pig with bitter Neapolitan spinach, celeriac cream and sweet and sour beetroot. The meat was cooked to perfection, being tender and melt-in-the-mouth; it was simply wonderful.
We could not pass on dessert, so my partner opted for the orange, carrots and citrus dessert which saw white chocolate, carrot sorbet, Tonka beans cream and citrus fruit ganache. I decided to keep things simple and opted for a selection of sorbet, which included pistachio, vanilla and strawberry.
After our desserts, we were rather enamoured, by their cheese trolley, which is simply a must to experience – you won’t be disappointed. Each cheese boasted its own unique story. In addition L’Olivio also offer a tea trolley, where you can select a nice tea to finish your meal off properly. Again, each tea holds a wealth of intrigue and our waiter went above and beyond to ensure we selected the best possible option to suit our preferences. You can also add various elements to your tea, so if you are feeling brave you can grab yourself a fresh chilli from the trolley.
All in all our experience at L’Olivio was outstanding, and we would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the beautiful island of Capri.
