    Bestival - 2017

    20 September, 2017

Bestival this year had moved from its usual home in the Isle of White to a smaller location at Lulworth Castle in Dorset. The theme of this year's Bestival was very colourful. This theme made for an eclectic and colourful experience throughout the four-day festival, which saw a lot of fun and frivolity, amongst all the mud.

Unfortunately the weather for this years' Bestival wasn't the greatest, and wellington boots were certainly required, however this did not detract from the event and we ended up having even more fun than anticipated.

Acts throughout the festival included Little Dragon, Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys, The XX, Dizzee Rascal, Laura Mvula, Rag'n'Bone man and Jamie T - to name just a few. The diverse mix of music only echoed the festival's surroundings and made for a truly wonderful musical journey.

Bestival holds a special atmosphere, which comes out every year, wackier than ever. As we wondered around the site, it wasn't just Kanye's huge head that caught our eye - we also couldn't fail to notice the giant inflatable church; aside from which the staging itself was truly inspired, from the tribal adornments of the Temple stage to the full size ship wreck of "HMS Bestival", there was so much to take in at every head turn.

"We fell in love with Bestival's special atmosphere this year and would certainly look to return."

Being at a smaller location this year, Bestival had to make the most of the space on offer to them and we have to say, the organisers did a fantastic job. Areas throughout the festival included The Lawn, which was a quieter area where you could choose from a vast selection of food outlets with inspiration from across the globe, as well as the Colour Field which is where the Temple Stage was located. There was also the Cuckoo Clump area, which played home to Happy Kanye. Each area was distinctly individual and easily accessible.

The only thing we had to complain about throughout Bestival was the weather, although having attended a few British festivals; we're beginning to believe that the mud is all a part of the "charm". There's something terribly British about being cold and wet, yet dressed up and making the best possible time out of the experience; and we believe its times like these that truly bring people together in the best way.

We fell in love with Bestival's special atmosphere this year and would certainly look to return. This festival comes highly recommended by us for a brilliant time with great entertainment, a wonderful ambiance, and great food and drink on offer.
