Beach Blanket Babylon can be found located in the fabulous Notting Hill area of London. Having visited the Notting Hill Beach Blanket Babylon some time ago, we decided it was about time we re-visited this old favourite. Having been impressed previously, we were pleased that the restaurant failed to disappoint once again on this occasion. This is a restaurant that boasts a wonderfully flamboyant style, with many different areas split over various levels, making it rather quirky, and one of the most special restaurants we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing.
When we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown through to the downstairs bar area to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. Being unable to resist a cocktail at the best of times, we had no hope here. With an impressive cocktail list, we were only too happy to oblige, and so I settled on a Espresso Martini, made from a mix of vodka, espresso coffee and Khalua, my partner chose an expertly made Old Fashioned, which saw Maker’s Mark bourbon, angostura bitters and sugar - both were masterfully created and couldn’t be faulted.
Following our cocktails, we were soon escorted up to get comfortable at our gorgeous table in the sumptuous Ballroom whilst we took a look over the menus. For my first course course, I chose the seared foie gras on toasted brioche, which was served with a confit of winter berries. The foie gras simply melted in the mouth, and the berries provided the perfect accompaniment to cut through the richness of this dish. My partner chose the tiger prawn cocktail which was served with avocado, butter lettuce and Marie-Rose sauce. The tiger prawns were large and juicy and the entire dish was so fresh and vibrant.

For our main courses, I chose the house sirloin steak with green beans, dauphinoise potatoes and peppercorn sauce. This was a truly decadent dish, the meat was cooked perfectly, the creaminess of the potatoes and the peppercorn sauce was just superb. My partner chose the chicken breast supreme which was served with chive mash, cabbage and jus. This was also a wonderful dish, with the chicken being perfectly succulent and flavoursome.
We simply couldn’t pass on dessert, so I chose the punchy passion fruit Pavlova, with my partner opting for the indulgent chocolate trifle. We also chose a bottle of the 2014 Cerbaiona di Diego Molinari Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy to accompany our meal, which was delicious, extremely smooth and easy drinking.
We were once again very impressed with Beach Blanket Babylon, and cannot wait to return. It comes highly recommended by us for a special experience.
