The Mercure Hotel in Nottingham City Centre can be found in the Lace Market area, you really couldn’t ask for a better location. Interestingly, this hotel is certainly not the usual Mercure offering. You’ll find no beige paintings in this hotel, which have been replaced by quirky fixtures and fittings throughout, making this a rather intriguing find.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly faces at reception, and once we were checked in by the welcoming staff, we were shown on our way to our George Suite located on the top floor of the hotel. Our George Suite paid homage to traditional English style, which has been done very well. Once through the door and into our suite it was almost like stepping into your uncle’s apartment in London’s Soho.

The suite offered a separate living area, a secret bedroom and an en-suite bathroom. To complete the space, the living area offered an array of quirky design features and fascinating objects along the library walls. A disguised door in the giant bookcase lead us through to the bedroom, where we found a king size bed complete with plump pillows, plush bed side lamps, a small desk and a flat screen TV. Moving through to the bathroom, we were pleased to find a freestanding roll-top bath, a separate walk-in shower and a small wash basin along with a small collection of fluffy white towels.

“You’ll be sure to have a wonderfully comfortable night’s sleep and be very well looked after”

Inside the hotel itself, there is a small gym for anyone looking to keep fit whilst staying at the hotel, and there is also the hotel brasserie on the first floor which is a causal restaurant where breakfast is also served. For something a little more exciting, you also have The Curious Tavern which is well worth a visit during your stay. Unfortunately this hotel does not have its own car park; however it is only a short walk away from a nearby car park for which they offer a discount for hotel guests.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Mercure Hotel, and would be delighted to return. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Nottingham then this hotel should certainly be one to consider. You’ll be sure to have a wonderfully comfortable night’s sleep and be very well looked after, and for that reason it comes recommended by us.
