Quaglino’s is a part of the renowned D&D group, and can be found located in the heart of London’s Mayfair area. Quaglino’s always promises a fun filled evening. The interiors of this restaurant are reminiscent of a luxury cruise ship, and you’ll often be treated to live music and a bustling atmosphere. This restaurant is rarely quiet, but the busyness only adds to the special ambiance.

When we arrived we decided upon a couple of aperitifs in the bar area. I chose a Wild and Beautiful cocktail, which saw raspberry infused Konik's vodka shaken with lemon, vanilla, pineapple and egg white, finished with a touch of fizz and finally completed with marshmallows and candy floss. It was quite the sight, and certainly tasted as good as it looked. My partner chose a glass of the Nyetimber Rosé NV from West Sussex, England.

To begin our meal, as a starter I chose the Quaglino’s cocktail, which saw prawns, Devon cock crab, langoustine, lobster, baby gem, watercress, radish and Marie Rose sauce. This twist on a classic prawn cocktail dish was absolutely delightful, with enough fresh seafood to make it a real treat. My partner chose the duck liver parfait, which came served with Matbucha Moroccan chutney and Za'atar brioche. This was also a twist on a classic dish, which offered some impressive flavours that complimented each other superbly.

For our main courses, we both opted for the 300g 40 day aged Angus rib-eye steak, which came served with a green peppercorn sauce. We also added sides to share of wilted young spinach, tender stem broccoli served with fresh chilli and crispy shallots, and pomme frites. The steaks were to dine for; cooked perfectly to our liking and wonderfully tender and flavoursome. The sides were also immaculately presented and full of wonderful flavours.

To accompany our meal, we chose a bottle of 2013, Candido La Carta Salice Salentino Riserva, Italy. This wine provided the perfect accompaniment to our meal as it was soft and well balanced with a medium body - very easy drinking and complimented our mains particularly well.

We were very impressed with our meal at Quaglino’s, which was not only delicious and well-presented, but came with a fantastic overall experience. The service was faultless and the ambiance was fun, yet non-intrusive. This restaurant certainly comes highly recommended by us and is up there with some of our favourites in the Mayfair area.
