The Seven Sins of Richard Corrigan

    Chef Patron, Corrigan’s Mayfair
    Richard Corrigan
Richard is undoubtedly the most established and well known Irish chef we have in the country. He has opened numerous restaurants, gained Michelin stars, is the author of two recipe books, cooked for the Queen and regularly makes appearances on radio and television; notably winning Great British Menu three times.

Richard runs Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill off Piccadilly which is celebrating its 100th birthday this year, Corrigan’s Mayfair, and Bentley’s Sea Grill at the internationally renowned Harrods Food Hall in Knightsbridge. In addition Virginia Park Lodge in Co Cavan, Ireland, was acquired in January 2014, a beautiful country lodge suitable for rural retreats, leisure pursuits and weddings.

Richard has cooked all his life and he is a vehement supporter of British and Irish produce and small independent suppliers. Richard’s chefs only use wild game, wild sustainable fish, and produce such as butter, cheese and charcuterie is sourced from mostly from family run independent businesses in the Britain and Ireland.

Wrath - What makes you angry about the hospitality industry?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
That the people that work in it sometimes can make for annoying patrons.

Greed - If all your food fantasies came true what would be on your Plate?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
A plate full of native oysters, whelks and cockles, freshly baked bread and butter.

Sloth - What do you do to unwind?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
A lovely glass of red on the sofa with my wife and kids and ‘chew the fat’ as we say in Ireland.

Pride - What are you most proud of?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
From everything that I have achieved and all the projects that I am involved in, I am most proud of my children. Junior, Jess and Robbie are great people, with manners and respectful, watching them conduct themselves in their own respective careers is really Maria’s and my crowning achievement, proud as punch!

Lust - Is there anything that you are still lusting to achieve?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
Lust is something that I stay clear of, a negative emotion that never leads anywhere nice.

Envy - who are you most envious of?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
I would say my puppy Jasper, could be the one that gets all the spoiling around the house, does nothing and he really gets away with murder around the house and the family know it!

Gluttony - have you ever over indulged?
    Richard Corrigan Seven Sins
Sorry, do we know each other??
