Vespasia can be found located inside the wonderful Palazzo Seneca, in the beautiful town of Norcia, Perugia. This restaurant is simply gorgeous in design.
When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff, who instantly made us feel extremely welcome and very well looked after. We were shown to our table, which featured the most delightful dining chairs.
We studied the menu whilst making a start on a bottle of Sagrantino di Montefalco, Colegrimaldesco 2005, Tabarrini.
“The wonderful flavour combinations, and impeccable presentation astounded us.”
It was hard to choose from the menu, which is filled with some of the most amazing sounding Italian dishes we have come across.
Eventually we decided, and opted to try the linguini with a mixture of cooked and raw prawns, seasoned with juniper from the Sibillini Mountains; as well as the home made Tortelli egg pasta, served with fresh goat’s cheese from Colforcella and tarragon pesto, to start.
The dishes were so wonderfully presented, and the ingredients so incredibly fresh - we were simply blown away.
To elevate the risk of any food envy, we both chose the same thing for our main courses - the Cinturello suckling pic from “Urbevetus” farm, served with apricots, lentils from Castelluccio, and mustard.
It was simply to dine for.
We just could not pass on dessert, and so, opted for the white and yellow peach, served with frozen yoghurt, and lemongrass; as well as the hazelnut truffle served with a selection of chocolate and cocoa.
The food at Vespasia was gorgeous. The wonderful flavour combinations, and impeccable presentation astounded us. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough if you are looking for authentic, Italian cooking, in a beautifully traditional environment. We can’t wait to return.
