Part of the Morgans Hotel Group, the Mondrian is situated in South Beach Miami. This hotel is a peaceful escape from the infamous party side of Miami. The Mondrian Hotel is set within a quite neighbourhood, overlooking Star Island and the surrounding Venetian islands.

The hotel lobby pays homage to 'Sleeping Beauty’s Castle’. Floor to ceiling windows, distinct, custom-designed furniture and distinctive lighting creates a modern, yet creative atmosphere. This theme is continued throughout the hotel...

Our room was Deluxe Bay View Studio, which boasts an excellent sized balcony. This was certainly welcomed, as a balcony is a must-have if staying here. It allows you to really appreciate the weather and stunning views over downtown Miami in the distance, which are beautiful.

"We were very intrigued by the abstract artwork adorning the hotel"

Our studio was very spacious and failed to disappoint with its stylish hint of Morgan design present. The low level bed was exceptionally stylish and comfortable and again, very spacious. The room boasts a small kitchen with a large fridge freezer. The bathroom, unfortunately, was a little on the small side but did include a walk-in shower with the water falling from a vintage glass style light in the ceiling; a great feature.

Stepping aside from the overall experience for a minute, we were very intrigued by the abstract artwork adorning the hotel. On the walls of this hotel sits photographs of heads of three different girls. With large eyes and digitally enhanced features, these girls are described as ‘sirens’ by the hotel. Apparently they are placed in every room in order to protect the guests, "almost like an angel figure".

The interior of the hotel is very clinically designed, in the best, minimalistic way. The reception is large, white, spacious, crisp and clean. The staff at the Mondrian are also dressed head to toe in white. At the rear of the hotel, outside they have a great sized swimming pool overlooking the water, surrounded by cabanas and sun loungers with a DJ present at the weekend.

The hotel also has an excellent spa, set in 4,000 square feet of Marcel Wanders-designed interiors. Six treatment rooms with treatments that scream indulgence; this really is a place to relax. Complimented by a private garden-view terrace, Agua at Mondrian is an escape within an escape.

For all you gym bunnies, the fitness suite is also certainly worth a visit... With stunning views overlooking the bay, this is one of the most inspiring gyms we have come across. Open 24 hours a day; there really is no excuse to miss a quick (or extensive) workout.

Worth noting as well, if you forget your workout gear (or do not have the baggage to bring it!) you can purchase an Equinox Emergency Workout Pack from the concierge desk, which includes a tank/capri legging combo for women or one tee/shorts combo for men, a Morgans Hotel Group water bottle and socks. It also includes complimentary laundering service – always a bonus!

All in all a very stylish hotel with great service; highly recommended!
