Cavatina is set within the renowned Sunset Marquis, which has played host to a wide range of musical talent over the years. From Hendrix, through to Elvis and The Rolling Stones. The hotel is adorned with large photographic prints, and the gardens are wonderfully lit with fairy lights. We were lucky enough to have a table on the outdoor terrace. This allowed us to overlook the beautiful gardens and water feature.

We opted to start the evening with cocktails. From their extensive menu we chose a Margarita del Marques, which is made with a blend of Delon Platinum, a splash of Grapefruit, and a touch of Agave Necter. A delicious, simple cocktail with a smooth refreshing delivery. We also ordered the Underground, which is made with Bombay Saffire, Muddled Basil and Fresh Lemon. Served on the rocks, this cocktail really hits the spot.

To begin we ordered the Lamb Meatballs with Tomato, Cumin and Pine Nuts. A simple, yet perfectly executed dish. As well as a Black Snapper Crudo with Blood Orange and Pickled Watermelon Rind, delicious and light on the palate.

"The food was truly delicious and our experience was a memorable one."

This was followed by Slow Roasted Filet Mignon, with Roasted Mushrooms and Potato Puree. A superb filet cut, retaining it's juice and flavour, complimented perfectly by the mushrooms. My partner ordered the Mediterranean Sea Bass with Olive Oil, Sea Salt and Lemon. The fish was well presented and full of flavour.

To finish we opted to try the Jamie Farms Carrot Cake with Candied Walnuts. Carrot cake with walnuts is a marriage I'm always happy to enjoy. Our other dessert was a Vacherin au citron. Which is an olive oil cake with sweet potato ice cream. Slightly unusual to be seen on a dessert menu, but an incredibly delicious dessert.

We enjoyed a bottle of Chappellet, mountain cuvee, 2012 throughout the evening. Service was a little slow, but this didn't harm our experience. The food was truly delicious and our experience was a memorable one.
